EX-DEMO SALE POLICY
Congrats on getting your hands on one of our bikes! We’re sure you will have a great time and enjoy it for years to come.
You’ll find here its current condition, what to service in the future and our aftersale support. Feel free to ask us for a copy of this document for your record.
Bike condition
The bike you are looking at has been rented during the summer season. It can not be considered in the same condition as a new bike.
Buying an ex-demo bike has pro’s and con’s. The main trade is to be able to pay a much lower price than MSRP in exchange for signs wear and tear (on the frame and the components).
That said, we take pride in dialing in our bikes and making sure they are in their best condition possible before selling them. We only sell these bikes locally to be able to assure proper support and keep a strong relationship with our customers.
So, in addition to what we think is a fair price, Arbutus Routes provides each bike an in depth pre-sale service to assure that it’s mechanically sound, clean and to reset most of its maintenance intervals:
- Overhaul service (https://arbutusroutes.com/service for more information)
- Fork lowers and shock air cans serviced with new seals
- All consumables have more than half of their lifespan left
You will be provided the “Ex-demo service report” in a separate document. It summarizes the repairs and modifications made for the sale.
Please review this report and inspect the bike to check that you deem its condition satisfying before finishing the purchase.
Future maintenance intervals
You will find here some maintenance information and reminders to keep your bike in the best condition.
Bike service:
While it depends on how much time you spend on your bike, we recommend booking a service at the very least once each season (our $169 Standard service is designed to provide an in-depth review on your bike to ensure your safety and its overall performance).
We also offer a free 35-point inspection of your bike, for free, to help you plan any future maintenance and keep track of your bike’s condition.
Feel free to book your appointment on our website.
Our workshop is now open all year round!
Washing your bike
A clean bike is undeniably more pleasant to ride but water can also easily wash off the grease inside the bearings and cause premature wear.
While washing your bike, please follow these recommendations:
Do not:
- Use any pressure washer
- Aim directly at bearings or linkages
Do:
- Shake your bike and/or wipe it down to get rid of the excess water
- Clean your bike directly after the ride as it is way easier than cleaning dried mud
- Lubricate your chain after each wash
Switch infinity (for Yeti bikes)
Failure to service the Switch Infinity will result in permanent damage and the replacement of the whole unit.
As a thank you for your support, an in-depth service and clean of the Switch Infinity is going to be included in any Standard service (and above) that you book with us. |
Dry/Dusty Conditions : grease every 75-100 hours of use
Excessive Mud, Dust, or Frequent Washing : grease every 25-50 hours of use
Minimum Service Interval* : not before 10-15 hours of use
*do not grease it more often than this as it can cause premature wear instead of preventing it.
Servicing the Yeti Infinity Link involves injecting grease into the grease ports. You will need a needle-style grease gun and Yeti's heavy duty grease. Refer to the owner manual for the detailed procedure.
Suspensions
Most brands recommend to:
- Keep the visible seals clean of any dirt after every ride
- Perform a lower leg service every 50 hours of riding
- Perform a full service every 125 hours of riding
Refer to the owner manuals for more details.
Our $299 Major service package includes the service on your suspensions.
Tire sealant (if tires tubeless)
We recommend refreshing your tire sealant every 6 months as it can dry out and fail to seal punctures (sealant top up is included in our Standard tune up).
Brakes pads and drivetrain
For your safety, it is important to keep track of these components’ condition.
Feel free to reach out or bring your bike for a free inspection and get a professional opinion.
System update (ebikes)
The software status needs to be checked once a year to stay on top of any potential updates.
As a thank you for your support, the software update is included in any standard service (and above) that you book with us. |
Warranty coverage
Valid for the original owner of either a brand new retail bike or demo bike purchased from Arbutus Routes, the frame warranty is not transferable to second owners.

Please reach out directly to us and we’ll initiate the process.
If you damage an eligible product while riding and it’s not covered under warranty, you may have the possibility of getting it fixed at a discounted price (cosmetics excluded). Coverage period is based on the purchase date of the original product.

Yeti
Frame lifetime warranty
All frames, including the Switch Infinity link, are covered for life against damage due to manufacturing defects for the original purchaser.
We work in close relationship with Yeti to repair or replace, at their discretion, any frame they deem defective.
There are a few conditions: you must register it online at YetiCycles.com/registration and you must take it to us (or another authorized Yeti Cycles dealer) for processing.
Crash replacement
If you happen to have a crash, Yeti and Arbutus Routes will get you back on the trail with a reasonable replacement price. Same conditions as above.
Cervélo
Frame lifetime warranty
As long as the frame is owned by the original owner, excluding paint and decals.
Same conditions than above: register your bike online (https://mycervelo.com/en/index.html) and get in touch with us if you have a replacement or repair claim.
Arbutus labour
Warranty or repair claims cover the parts themselves and do not include labour.
However, if you are the original owner who bought the bike from us, we will absorb the cost of labour and processing, meaning you won’t have to pay for it.
For subsequent owners or crash replacement/assisted replacement policy repairs, a quote on labour will be provided before the work.
